Behaviour Consultancy and Support Explained
I provide evidence-based assessment, personalised planning, practical support, training and mentoring that enables teams to understand and confidently respond to behaviours effectively and compassionately. Whilst also working proactively to increase skills and engagement which is proven to reduce likelihood of concerning behaviours.
Consultancy be focused on just one individual or it can be applied setting wide.
The Consultancy Process
Assessment
Following referral I will conduct an assessment that will include review of documentation, discussions with family/ support team and observations.
Individual support- to determine why certain behaviours occur and what skills an individual would benefit from building on
Setting Wide - to determine what gaps there may be in policy, training, understanding and culture surrounding concerning behaviours
Support Planning & Implementation
Following findings of the assessment I will work with families or a support team to develop realistic and functional support plans. These will include safe responses to concerning behaviours and steps to increase key skills for the person supported.
Training and ongoing coaching will then be provided to ensure successful and confident implementation of plans.
Setting wide - I will support setting managers to develop capable environments for those with ASN and develop practice leadership for understanding and responding to concerning behaviours
Monitoring and Supervision
Following implementation of support plans I will provide ongoing monitoring of changes in concerning behaviours and skills building. I support teams and families to adjust plans or move on with next steps when required.
I will offer regular contact and supervision for those supporting. I can also offer debriefs and reflection support which will influence changes to support plans.
Setting wide - I can provide ongoing supervision for manager and teams to ensure they remain confident in understanding concerning behaviours
